Correction

I've just been informed that in my excitement about the diapers on Well.ca I missed the part where they say will ship to 10 Canadian provinces. That leaves us northerners out, the people who need it the most! I guess we're back to square one on the diaper problem.

Sorry if I caused any unnecessary excitement and jubilation.

I know that a friend of mine that lived in both Chester and Whale Cove used to order all of her diapers on food mail (through manitoba)...I have never checked into it here because we still have a barge room full of diapers, but that may be an option?

Booooo!!!

In Kugluktuk we could order diapers and wipes via food mail too!

I've ordered via foodmail before but the shipping isn't great. Still cheaper than buying local though...

yep when i first saw it maybe 3 weeks back i was excited! but too bad, they dont ship EVERYTHING for free. i wanted to buy 1.2kg of basmati rice and they say shipping is extra but when i put in 900 g of arborio rice, apparently taht is free shipping so its a hit and miss :(

the only way its cheaper buying through foodmail is if the diapers is on sale. i ordered toilet paper via foodmail before and they had 24 cashmere rolls on sale for $4.99 a bag, wayyyy cheaper than buying it for $24.99 at northmart.

oh btw, the thing with foodmail in kivalliq, we were never charged for cooler, admin fee or whatever crock that we are charged for in baffin region so it makes it worth it buying diapers on foodmail if you live in kivalliq region.

i once did foodmail, my total came up to 42.99 (groceries) and i had to pay $54 for all the fees/cooler/freezer and whatever else..its ridiculous so i stopped doing foodmail unless its something i totally cannot get in town.

Aida! Who were you doing it through that you paid that for shipping! I've never had a bill like that. We deal with Marcher Daoust and the shipping is usually pretty reasonable unless you order something that's not approved on the subsidy. Then you pay cargo prices and it's crazy.

we are doing it through metro, i want to try IGA. we had a ton of stuff for $42.99 b/c it was a good sale. we also note to them we wont pay anything if its via cargo and they know this. but i dont know if its just iqaluit b/c honestly i dont think we really have the best of the deal here as oppose to the smaller communities :)

We tried IGA once and I'll never do it again. The shipping was out of this world. Our neighbour tried it too and found the same thing.

thanks for the tip! we were ordering it through safeway in Arviat and i really like it, they have an online form so it was easy.

Since it costs something crazy like $80 dollars to ship diapers to the North, Well can't ethically charge, or do it for free. However, you should still use Well.ca for any other other purchases you'd like, from candy and chips to face creams. Great prices. Free shipping. It would just be less expensive for you to purchase diapers at Northern, unfortunately.
