Eviction Day?

Well it's finally here. My due date. Unfortunately this baby is cozy and comfy in there and is showing no signs of his intention to join us in the outside world. I'm finding this a little hard to deal with because I'm the type of person that when I want something, I want it now and at the moment I'm not getting my way. Since Oliver was early, I fully expected this one to be early too and am getting rather annoyed at his having his own mind on the subject.

Truth be told, today's due date is the one calculated by the ultrasound I had early on in the pregnancy. My actual due date (calculated by my and Nick's much more accurate knowledge on the subject) is sometime this coming weekend. The 25th or 26th I would say. Knowing that you'd think I'd me a bit more patient. Since I'm not sleeping well at all, spending more time in the bathroom than out and am just so completely uncomfortable, I'm going with the ultrasound and saying that today is the day baby.... time to get out!

My weekly pregnancy email says that 75% of babies are born past their due dates so I wouldn't be at all surprised if this goes on well into next week. I'll keep you posted.

Just Thoughts

I have really been enjoying parenting lately. I've mentioned it before but the changes in Oliver in the last 8 weeks amaze me to the point that I don't even know where to start. To get to the point, he's gone from Baby to a Little Boy. He's is flirty, funny and charming. He's talking up a storm and you can actually understand him 78% of the time. He says Hello to everyone, everywhere we go and he won't let up till you say hello back to him. When someone leaves our house he'll run to the window to watch them walk the parking lot. Then he'll call goodbye to their car till he can't see it anymore. He's is full of hugs and kisses for everyone. And he's the most laid back kid ever. Nothing rattles him, he just moves on to something else rather than make a fuss about anything. I'm sure all these things are much more endearing to me than they are to anyone else outside our immediate family but if you're also a parent, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm starting to really understand why people enjoy their kids so much. I get loving them, but enjoying them because of the people they are becoming is something I don't think I really got until now.

Now if this other kid would just show up already so I can enjoy him too. Due Monday...

Photos of this week

This past week has been a busy one with Nick arriving in Saint John on Tuesday afternoon as well as another visitor you may recognise. Jen, Nathan and Ezri are on a east coast road trip to visit some friends and they stayed with us for a few days on their way through. It was great to see them again and the kids had such a good time playing together.

I took advantage of my friend the photographer and asked if she would kindly take some shots of my family while she was here. As always, Jen was happy to do so. Here are just a few of the hilights.

Thanks Jen! It was great to see you guys.

Guck!!!

I was in the kitchen the other day and heard a desperate call of 'Guck'!!! In Oliver language that could mean Truck, Duck, Yuck... you get it. Depending on the context of what he's doing it's usually pretty easy to figure out which one he means at the time. When you hear it in this particular desperate tone, it means I'm STUCK!

I quickly went into the living room where the call came from and this is what I found. He didn't quite have enough leverage either way to get him self out of this position. So what did I do?? Make him stay there, went to get the camera and took 5 or 6 shots before I helped him out. Sorry O, it was too cute not to get on film.

Jump!

O's first go at a bouncy castle. I think he's got the hang of it.
