This year my kids will be doing a little off planet trick or treating.
These are 'genuine' NASA issue shuttle attire. We picked them up at the Kennedy Space Center when we were there in February. I've been so excited to have them wear them. I only wish I had one in my size.
Happy Halloween everyone!

Tools
We had this Home Depot tool bench brought up on our sealift this year and was originally going to be Oliver's christmas gift. We have since decided to spend the holidays down south and were not going to drag it down there just to bring it back. We set it up the other night and it's been a huge hit. They've both been playing with it non stop.

Pumpkin Prose
It was mid October and my hopes came to fruition,
Pumpkins! but the price would cut in to the kids future tuition.
I spent 18 dollars and could have spent more
but knew if I did I might be put out the door.
I waited and waited till just the right day
so the pumpkin would last till the thirty first day
but I shouldn't have waited, the perfect timing forgotten
when I took it down from the shelf to find it was rotten
But we carved it and lit it in spite of it's lean
To everyone, Have a Happy Halloween!
Ok, so I'm no Shakespear... or Dr. Seusse.
I was so excited about carving our pumpkin this year because I thought Oliver was old enough to really get in to it. Not only was the pumpkin rotten but I couldn't get O to touch anything but the stem. He's a boy! I thought he'd love to get his hands dirty but he wasn't having anything to do with it. I went ahead and carved it anyway so the kids could see it and had to prop it up because it was rotting from the bottom. That meant it was leaning forward on it's one good side so you couldn't see the face. Then I lit it, took a couple of photos and immediately dumped it in the garbage.
I hate that might as well have thrown the $18 in the garbage but I'm sure glad I didn't pay $29 dollars for one with two good sides!

A glimps at the future?
Oliver came out of his room today while I was making lunch.
Oliver: Mommy? Can you please come to my bedroom with me?
Me: I can't right now O, I'm making your lunch.
Oliver: Come on Mommy... There's toys... there's lots of books.... there's ALL SORTS of fun things.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quite the pitch. Maybe he'll be a salesman someday.

Outside / Inside
Friday night there was a big hockey game being played out behind my house.
Saturday night there was a not so big game being played in our hallway.

Not that I'm rushing them but I look forward to the day when they are old enough to join that big game out back.

New Parkas
The last few weeks I've been working on new parkas for the boys and they are finally done. Blue Jays themed of course.
They are also sporting their new mohawk hats from Fun and Funky Kids Hats. Northern bloggers out there will know her better as Lindsay from No Invitation Required. Lindsay makes a wide variety of hand made hats for kids, and adults too if you have a sense of fun. Her prices are great and she ships anywhere. Check out her site here.
