A little of everything

I've been a bad blogger lately. From the looks of my sidebar, I'm not alone. It seems the northern community is on a major slow down so I don't feel so bad. Maybe it's contagious... which one of you bloggers started it??

So in the interest of just getting something out there, here is a mish mash of stuff for you.

1. The days are getting shorter and we are rapidly heading in to the darkness. The sun barely comes up over the mountain now and you can really see the difference in what a sunny day looks like now compared to just a few weeks ago. The official sunset is 4:52 today and as we loose about 8 minutes a day, it won't be long before I can get out the glow sticks I've had stashed away for some fun in the dark afternoons.

2. Yesterday was a very sad day for me. I've decided that it's time to retire my amauti because Isaac is just to heavy. I realise some woman here carry their kids well past 2 and have heavier babies than mine but I just can't do it anymore. It's fine for a quick trip to the store but after a very short time by shoulders are aching and I'm constantly tugging on the front to pull him up. So, I put it up for sale.

I'd been having an internal tug of war on whether to keep it or not and I've decided that selling it is the right thing to do. Part of me wants to keep it as a souvenir of our time here and the joy I had carrying the boys in it. The other part of me knows that it will just end up in a box in the basement. I'll take it out, reminisce about how much I loved using it and it would go back in the box for another year or two. So, the practical part of me won out. I have lots of pictures of the boys in it and they will serve the same purpose for conjuring memories. I posted it on the Pangnirtung Swap and Sell site and to date I haven't had any bites. Being that I'm twice the size of the average Inuk lady it may be a hard sell. I may still get that box full of amauti after all.

3. I mentioned a while back that our cat Izzy was missing. She still hasn't been found and we're pretty sure she's not coming back. Over the first couple of weeks we heard about a few sightings that seemed pretty reliable but when we went to search we came up empty. We put out a reward for anyone who could return her and we searched several times day and night without any luck. We miss her alot and feel bad that it happened but we've moved on. My overly optimistic side hopes that someone has found her and has taken her in and she's living a nice warm life with another family.

4. As of Friday I reached my 5% weight loss goal. I've been having a relatively easy time keeping to my plan and am feeling good about my accomplishment. My one regret is that I could have reached the goal a couple of weeks sooner. My parents visit and Thanksgiving apple pie derailed me temporarily but I chose to jump off the wagon so I deserve the delay. I also deserve to enjoy a good feed of my mom's chicken balls and schnitzel and my favorite apple pie every once and a while. As long as I get back to it in a timely fashion I try not to feel too guilty about a delay on getting to my goal. Anyway, I've now set another 5% goal and am moving forward. Thank to everyone to the support I've received from my readers.

Well, I think that gets you all up to date on my life. Until next time.....

Congrats on the weight loss :) I think you have a healthy attitude to your progress. I don't think it's always a good idea to deny yourself everything you love, you just have to have it in moderation, as a treat every now and then.

I'm sorry you cat never came back :(
